Responsible for 44% of national energy consumption and 25% of CO2 emissions, the building sector is now one of the most energy-intensive in France, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Transport and Ecological Change.
Numerous regulations have been introduced to address fundamental environmental issues: RT 2005, RT 2012 and now RE 2020.
RE 2020 stands for Environmental Regulation 2020. Introduced by the French government, This new regulation came into force on January 1, 2022, with the aim of meeting the current challenges of global warming. To kick-start this energy transition, this flagship measure calls for special thought in terms of cost control, while meeting certain challenges for future construction projects:
